** thesis project for Bachelor’s degree at Iuav, interior design

ABSTRACT

Unveiling your mind: a journey through the wonder of human brain is an exhibit project that get into the intricate world of neuroscience, focusing on the fascinating exploration of the human brain. The exhibit, through a multisensory experience, offers a deeper understanding of the complexity of the encephalon, its role in the human perceptual and experiential sphere and its influence on our behavior, as well as the role it plays in shaping the individuality of each of us. The project aims to bridge the gap between scientific complexity and the public's understanding and processing of the aforementioned information by stimulating curiosity, promoting awareness, and encouraging a closer and lasting link between users and the world of neuroscience.

The exhibit idea comes from a deep research related to the central nervous system, specifically our brain. In fact, the correlation between the exhibit and the brain is recurrent in the structure and in its interiors. They are characterized by very dark tones, as if we were entering the encephalon: the space is therefore reminiscent of a warehouse, in which the information is meticulously stored. In fact, our organ is considered as a small but immense archive in which the information perceived is processed, stored and sometimes brought back to the surface.

Furthermore, the five senses are fundamentally involved in this project because, thanks to them, we can experiece the external world, costantly creating memories. Therefor, the space elevates them through its materiality. In fact, we find cold, surgical materials such as steel, which composes most of the interiors that the user will come into contact with. Again, rubber was chosen as the floor material, giving a sense of softness to the step, giving to touch an important role.

Dimensioned sections

During the development process of the project, mainly based on the research phase and the space design, was curated also the graphic and communication part of the exhibition.

The communication of the topics inside the exhibit is based on the use of magnets which complete the sentences on the exhibition blackboards. This is a good method for the visitors to learn the informations.
